Passkey
Understanding Passkeys
A Passkey is a secure and modern method for managing and protecting your Denaria account. Unlike traditional passwords, passkeys offer enhanced security by being unique to each service and impossible to share or export. This makes them an ideal solution for safeguarding digital assets and personal data within the Denaria Perpetual DEX.
Warning: Deleting your Passkey can result in the permanent loss of your account. Once a Passkey is deleted, there is no way to recover the associated account, as the passkey is essential for account access and verification.
Why Passkeys?
Passkeys are uniquely generated for each service you sign up for, reducing the risk of password reuse and increasing overall security. Since they are tied exclusively to the service, phishing attacks are virtually eliminated.
Passkeys cannot be used across different services, making it extremely difficult for phishing attempts to succeed and since passkeys cannot be revealed or exported. The passkeys are automatically backed up with services like iCloud and Google One, ensuring that users can regain access also if they change devices.
Using Biometrics with Passkeys
Although passkeys are not directly linked to your biometrics (such as fingerprints or Face ID), they can be accessed securely through biometric verification on your device. For instance, you can use your fingerprint to authorize the use of a passkey for logging into Denaria App.
If you change devices, you will need to reconfigure biometric access by logging into your iCloud or Google account. However, your passkey remains intact. Biometric verification is optional. You can choose to secure your device also with a traditional PIN or passcode.
Ensuring Backup of Your Passkeys
To safeguard your passkeys, it’s essential to verify that they are being backed up properly.
- iOS Users: After setting up your account, navigate to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Passwords and Keychain to confirm that your passkey is listed.
- Android Users: After setting up your Denaria Finance account, visit Google Password Manager and ensure that your passkey is correctly saved.
Your device may automatically name your passkeys when they are create and it can be beneficial to rename them for easier identification. This helps ensure that you can quickly find and use the correct passkey when needed.
